Troy enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1981 and retired from the military in 1991 with 10 years of service. He has always had a tremendous love for teaching and empowering others. He believes that “to whom much is given much is required.” Troy and his wife Joan established an in-house program called “The Eagle’s Nest”, which provided crisis intervention services to court-appointed youth aged 12-16 from 2007-2010.
Troy accepted his calling into the Ministry in June 1999. He is a licensed, ordained minister of the gospel who has made a decision to devote his life to serving God. He is a former associate minister of Triumph M.B. Church in Vicksburg, MS.
He was the COO and an instructor for a company called the Champions Within, where he traveled throughout the States of Mississippi, Tennessee and Louisiana teaching Character Education classes in the schools. In 2007 Troy founded Truly Ministries and started having weekly Bible Study classes and Sunday Morning Worship services.
He is a Certified Anger Management Facilitator, teaches weekly parenting classes at the CAP Center and facilitates youth mentoring classes and afterschool tutorial sessions at various schools here in the City of Vicksburg. Summer Enrichment Programs and Marriage and Family Counseling sessions are also provided by the ministry.
Troy currently serves as an associate minister at Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church which is under the pastorate of Dr. John E. Cameron, Sr. in Jackson, MS.
